We are always looking for and welcoming volunteers to our rescue efforts. You should also know that there is much satisfaction involved in saving the lives of these intelligent and proud and sometimes silly animals no matter what role you play in the rescue process! There are many ways to lend a hand and a few hours of help can make an enormous difference in the life of an orphaned GSP.
STEP 1
Decide in which areas you want to volunteer. Read our Volunteer page for some examples of how you can help.
STEP 2
Fill out and submit a Volunteer Application. Please complete the electronic questionnaire as accurately as possible. Please do not be offended by any of the information ISR seeks. ISR is only attempting to match your desire to help with our needs and the needs of numerous homeless German Shorthairs, all of which have unique personalities and physical conditions.
STEP 3
The last step in the volunteer approval process is a home visit with an ISR volunteer. This is both for you to get to know Illinois Shorthair Rescue and for us to get to know you and your household environment. This step is particularly important for volunteers interested in fostering to make sure the right foster dog is placed in your household. After the home visit report is submitted and reviewed, the ISR Volunteer Coordinator will be in touch to discuss volunteer opportunities.
Please Note: ISR has the right to refuse any volunteer applicant.
Items of note for Volunteers:
- Illinois Shorthair Rescue greatly appreciates your time and effort. ISR cannot be responsible for any animal or non-animal related accidents, injuries or illnesses incurred while performing duties related to the rescue.
- If you are under 18 years of age, we will need written consent from your legal guardian before you can act in any volunteer capacity.
We look forward to bringing you into our family of Volunteers!
If you find yourself unable to commit on the Volunteer side but really want to help out, please consider making a financial donation. All funds received go towards the care and maintenance of our rescued GSPs. Illinois Shorthair Rescue greatly appreciates any contribution no matter the size.
