You must be an ISR approved adopter to request and receive further information on our GSPs. The process includes an application review, Veterinarian check, and home visit. Please understand there may be approved adopters already going through various stages of our adoption process; candidates who submitted their applications before those still in the review process, or those who are in the home visit stages.
Expressing an interest for a particular dog already in our rescue does not guarantee that specific dog will be available when you’ve completed the approval process. Also, we must ensure the needs of the dog of interest is a good match to an applicant’s specific circumstances. Completing an application and going through the approval process will add your information to our network. A current approval with your information in our database offers you the greatest opportunity to be matched up with the perfect GSP; a great match for your entire family. To start the application process, please follow the instructions found on this page.

Fritz – Fostered in IL (Adoption Pending)

PLACEMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Fritz is a very friendly Shorthair. No cats.
FRITZ’S STORY:
Fritz is a 2-year-old, neutered pup with a personality as unique as his velvety-soft ears. This lovable guy is potty trained, walks beautifully on a leash, and is crate trained. While he hasn’t mastered formal commands just yet, he’s ready to start working on the basics to become the best companion he can be. Other than a little counter surfing, Fritz has excellent house manners and is a joy to have around.
Outdoors, Fritz’s high prey drive kicks in—he’s captivated by squirrels and loves to scope out the action. Because of this, he’d thrive in a home without cats or small animals. Indoors, however, he’s the definition of chill. Fritz adores lounging on a soft bed or cuddling on the couch, and one of his favorite pastimes is gazing out the window and watching the world go by.
Fritz is a social pup who gets along well with other dogs and respects their cues if they’re not in the mood to play. He’s also a big fan of ear and face rubs, and you’ll quickly fall in love with his sweet, laid-back demeanor. Fritz is ready to find his forever home—could it be with you? ❤️

Scooter – Fostered in IL

PLACEMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Scooter is a very friendly and young boy trying to figure things out. Not sure about cats and he seems to be friendly with other dogs.
SCOOTER’S STORY:
Scooter is 1-2 year old male who came to ISR from a shelter. Weighing about 40 pounds, he’s a sweet, friendly, and bouncy boy who love to cuddle. His size makes him extra fun, and he has what we like to call “GSP likeness” or “GSP close enough. :)”
Scooter is a smart and affectionate pup who has made great progress in his training! He knows his name and responds well to commands like sit, stay, down, and paw. Mealtime manners? He’s got them down—Scooter sits and stays patiently before eating.

He’s a big fan of car rides and enjoys watching the world go by through the window. At home, he’ll let you know when he needs to go outside and loves curling up for a cuddle session.
At night, Scooter sleeps peacefully in his crate without any issues. He’s incredibly friendly with people and always happy to meet new friends. With his loving nature and eagerness to learn, Scooter is sure to be a wonderful companion!

Watson – Fostered in MI

PLACEMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Watson is a friendly Shorthair who enjoys other dogs. Unknown about cats or kids.
WATSON’S STORY:
Watson is a 7-year-old, 60 lb bundle of energy and love looking for a forever home! He’s a social pup who quickly makes friends with other dogs, enjoys a good game of chase or wrestling, and even tolerates grumpy pups. While his cat and kid experience is unknown, he takes treats gently and is always eager to please. He does have a high prey drive, so squirrels better watch out!
Watson thrives on activity and would love an active home where he can go on long walks, run in a fenced yard, and play fetch. He enjoys chewing on toys, keeping an eye on his people, and snuggling once he feels comfortable. While incredibly sweet, Watson does struggle with anxiety, especially in new places and around unfamiliar people (particularly men). With patience and time, he warms up—he took just a few days to bond with his foster dad!
At night, he sleeps peacefully on a dog bed next to his person. He knows several commands, including sit, down, shake, place, and even how to jump into his human’s arms! He’s food-motivated and smart but still pulls on a leash, even with a prong collar. Watson is crate-trained and does well when crated, resting quietly without any issues.
Watson has a history of seizures and is on anti-seizure medication. With the medication, his seizures are controlled. His ideal home would have patient adopters who are home most of the time and willing to help him build confidence.
If you’re looking for an active, affectionate companion who just needs a little extra reassurance, Watson is ready to be your loyal best friend! If you’re a family who wants to adopt a sweet, energetic boy, then Watson may be just the match for you!
